La Vie en Rouge - Olivia Roze
La Vie en Rouge - Olivia Roze
Spray paint on canvas 594 x 878 mm
ARTIST STATEMENT: This piece is a stencilled spray piece using street art techniques. I was inspired by Teddy Baden’s work after being selected for an Art for Guernsey Scholarship and visiting Teddy in London. I wanted to capture a moment in time using a modern technique; also creating something beautiful and delicate. The flow of the hair and the free expression of the face, then stripped back to black and white with one bold colour to make the expression pop!
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Olivia Roze won the Public Vote Prize in the Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize, Guernsey 2021 with her artwork "Freya" and also was selected for an Art for Guernsey Scholarship. Olivia studies Creative and Digital Arts at the College of Further Education. Olivia's aspriations are "to share my art with many, and also take my education further and study a Fine Art bachelors degree at university."

Winning bidders should note that all lots will be sold subject to their reserve price being met. Reserve prices vary for each individual piece and are set by the student artist. The Sale Room system will keep your bid to a minimum amount which may not meet the reserve price and result in a sale, please contact SAFGuernsey@sovereigngroup.com if you would like your current bid to be raised to a specific level. The Sovereign Art Foundation advises students to consider setting a reserve price of £80 for their work.
This auction is being run under the supervision of Martel Maides Auctions and by taking part you will be bound by their general auction terms and conditions, available at www.martelmaidesauctions.com. In addition, please note that several pieces in this auction form part of a student’s active GCSE or A Level portfolio and the original must remain in the possession of the school until the examination has finished. In these cases, a replica piece will be provided to the buyer until it can be exchanged with the original piece. These pieces are identified in the individual Lot descriptions.
