Inner Pink - Hannah Ogier.
590x840mm. Unframed. Oil on canvas. ARTIST STATEMENT: Inspired by my friend, Jodie's, love for the colour pink. Pink is often a colour we assign to femininity, and this can place boxes around our expressions of gender. Yet, I believe there is space for women to reclaim this colour as a sign of strength and power. Pink and purple light was used in this painting to allow Jodie's skin and her features to glow, embodying the strength I admire in her. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Since being a sovereign art finalist in 2015 I went on to study art at A Level where my skills in oil painting grew. I then went onto study an undergraduate in Geography and am now completing a master's in Marketing at The University of Bristol. Art has remained a big part of my life and I have continued painting over the years for pleasure but also as a form of self-expression. As I now look towards a more creative career in marketing, I am drawing on my background in art all the time and I hope to continue painting for the rest of my life.
