Lombard venetian school of the 16th/17th centuryPortrait of a nobleman with letterOil on canvas75 x 62 cmThe artwork shows stylistic affinities with Venetian portraiture between the16th and 17th centuries, or with Francesco Apollodoro called Porcia, Domenico Robusti called Tintoretto, Alessandro Maganza, Palma the Younger, Pietro Malombra and Sante Peranda to whom the artwork is particularly close and therefore attributed. In support of the attribution thesis, see the portraits preserved at the Galleria Estense in Modena, Palazzo Ducale in Mantua and the Civic Museum in Mirandola. It should be noted that in the upper left of the canvas there are inscriptions, currently illegible, which after cleaning the painting could determine the indication of the depicted character and circumscribe, or vary, the pictorial sphere or the author.
