Provenance: Mrs Solly of the Merivale family, to whom bequeathed by Francis Towne. Iolo Williams noted that the Misses Merivale inherited "a rich store of Towne`s drawings". John Merivale was Towne`s great friend and residuary legatee. ++ Some pigment oxidised with `spotting` throughout; vertical crease (or join)
