"Our Lady" Carved, polychromed and gilded sculpture. France. Gothic. Circa 1300.Magnificent example of French imagery of Our Lady. Mary stands, facing forwards, wearing rich clothing which covers her body, falling elegantly from her shoulders and arms forming folds which fall to her feet which are, unusually, bare. Her face has a sweet expression with a slight smile. Provenance Private collection. Catalonia. The sculpture has been in the same collection since the early 20th century. Restorations and repaints. Height: 131 cm.
