Imposing marble Crucified Christ. 17th century.
The sculpture has unquestionable artistic quality. Having great realism, achieved with the tense musculature of the legs, the veins and Christ´s exceptional face, which is sculpted with delicate features and with a lost look in the eyes with the brow raised and the lips parted, communicating directly with the observer, transmitting the suffering of Christ.
The elaborate and complex loin cloth deserves a special mention, with its many folds and knots both on the front and the back of the figure, making a sculpture in itself. .
The arms have been added later.
