Oil on board.
Standing before a far-off landscape in cold blue and green tones, the Virgin, in contrast, is wearing a red tunic and lovingly embraces the Christ Child, who is holding his hands out to her anxiously, forming a tender and naturalistic composition. The rosy skin tones and the delicate treatment of the Virgin´s hair, which falls to her shoulders and is scooped up with a bejewelled adornment, are outstanding.
The board is reinforced and has a carved and gilded wooden frame from the early 20th century.
