The death of Christ ends the Passion cycle. Here Christ is represented as alive with an expression of serene pain, wearing a short loin cloth, attached to the cross with four silver nails. At his feet his mother, Mary, with a stricken expression, interlaces her hands on her chest. Wearing a crown, a dagger pierces his chest, symbolizing his suffering.
