"Saint Sebastian". Polychrome and gilt carved wooden sculpture. Castilian school. 16th century.
The saint is depicted in the customary way, at the scene of his martyrdom, tied to a tree and with arrow wounds, although these are no longer visible. Young and handsome with delicately sculpted hair which falls to both sides, framing his face.
The modelling of the body and the work on the skin tone are very interesting.
