"Saint John". Carved wooden polychrome sculpture with predominately red and blue tones. Romanesque. 13th century.
Originates from a Calvary. The saint is standing with his head leaning to one side, propped up by his right hand. He holds a book of the Holy Scriptures in his left hand. He wears a tunic and cloak which falls from his shoulders to the floor, forming deep folds.
Formerly polychrome on the face and right hand.
