Processional cross made of formerly gilded copper, with attached figures of Christ and Saint John made of copper with remains of gilt and champlevé enamel. Limoges. France. 13th century.
The cross is decorated with four rock crystal cabochons (one missing) and engraved designs of scrolls and plant motifs. The Christ figure is crowned with the head leaning slightly to one side and wearing a long perizonium which preserves most of its champlevé enamel in ultramarine, turquoise and red shades.
Crucifix measurements: 36 x 21 cm.
