19th century, of cylindrical form, elaborately carved all over in several levels of relief with a continuous scene of a procession of figures through a landscape filled with pavilions, walls, a bridge, boats on a river, rocks and trees, with additional figures and animals engaged in various activities on paths and in buildings, over a pierced floral border, atop a carved wooden base, overall 8.75`` H x 7`` Dia., est: $1000/2000
Provenance: Private Collection, South Pasadena, CA. Condition: The brushpot alone: 6.25`` H x 4.75`` Dia. General marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. Lower edge of pot with some yellowish discoloration. A.25`` x.25`` loss restricted to the lower edge border. A vertical crack to molding above the loss.
