5 A French antique diamond and gem-set pendant

Circa 1850, French assay, silver-topped 18K gold, set with two cabochon sapphires measuring 9 x 5.5 x 6.5 and 7.4 x 4.4 x 4.25mm, and totaling approximately 3.60 cts, offset by 20 modified rectangular-cut rubies totaling approximately 3.50 cts, surrounded by 180 rose and 26 old mine-cut diamonds totaling 5.50 cts, and graded H-J color and SI-I clarity, further enhanced by five pearls, not tested for natural vs. cultured, 3 1/2`` x 1 3/4``, est: $5000/7000

Condition: All of the rose-cuts are backed, with several missing. There are several areas of minor repair and several breaks to the metal that need minor attention. The bail detaches to have once been worn as a brooch, but the screw-back brooch fitting is missing. The sapphires are dark blue and the rubies are medium to dark red; both with eye visible natural surface reaching inclusions and fractures. One ruby is broken. There is visible glue behind the pearls. Pearls are not tested for natural vs. cultured. The metal shows typical discoloration due to age. The condition of the item in relation to its age is fair-good. Your bid indicates acceptance of our Conditions of Sale. AS-IS. ALL SALES FINAL
