Second half 19th century, possibly British, unmarked, the cut glass bowls also unmarked, possibly Irish, the shaped rectangular base with a reeded edge and floral swag-draped gallery, mounted at each end with a plinth topped with an urn and leaf-wrapped columns supporting a circular bowl, flanking a central arched pavilion enclosing a figure of a hunter and a dog and surmounted by a figure of Diana the Huntress with hounds, surrounded by leaf-wrapped columns issuing from eagle`s heads and supporting a stepped square platform mounted with stag`s heads, topped by an urn and further columns supporting a circular bowl; the whole raised on turtle-form feet, 28.5`` H x 43`` W x 12.5`` D, est: $15,000/20,000
Provenance: Estate of Kathryn Taddeau, Louis C. Vanuxem, ""Liberty Hall"" hunting lodge, Georgia, and Philadelphia. Private collection, Los Angeles, CA. Condition: Good overall condition. Some lifting to silver plate at base edge. One column at right side is detached from upper bowl base and needs soldering. Central columns could use tightening. Cut glass bowls with scattered chips and fleabites to teeth. Hunter`s sling disconnected from stock of gun. Diana lacking weapon previously attached to right hand.
