1940s ERA STEIFF MOHAIR BEAR WITH BUTTON AND UNUSUAL LINEN PAW PADS.

Teddy is 5-ways jointed and made from vibrant yellow mohair. He has distinctive linen paw pads; Steiff used this material in the place of felt on their items when felt for toy makers was in short supply due to geopolitical logistics and rationing. Teddy has five hand-embroidered black claws on each paw. His pensive and thoughtful face is detailed with brown and black pupil eyes and a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth. Ted retains his short trailing ""F"" button and traces of his yellow ear tag as his Steiff IDs. Because of their somewhat limited time in production, and infrequency on the secondary market, bears with linen pads such as this one are usually of particular interest to collectors. SIZE: Standing 14"" (35cm). Sitting 10"" (25cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. CONDITION: Slight and very light marks on linen pads, otherwise very good. 1-13764
