CIRCA 1912 BLOND STEIFF BEAR ON WHEELS WITH BUTTON.

Bear is standing on all fours, hard stuffed with excelsior, and is unjointed. He has tan felt pads and four hand-embroidered black claws on each paw. His charming center seamed face is detailed with a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth and black shoebutton eyes. With working pull cord voice. Bear rides upon a metal carriage with four metal wheels. Although originally made as toys for children, these early Steiff ride-on animals were made so solidly that they could easily support the weight of adults when they were new. The bear wears a blue and yellow felt blanket of more recent vintage. This ride-on bear retains his long trailing ""F"" button as his Steiff ID. SIZE: 20"" t (50cm) x 28"" w (71cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. CONDITION: Wear to paw pads with restoration. General mohair loss and thinning, especially to back and top of head. Professional restoration to muzzle area. 1-13866
