DU MAURIER DAPHNE: (1907-1989) British Author. Signed and inscribed Christmas greetings card, the stiff red 8vo folding card featuring a colour photograph to the front cover, being a reproduction of a painting by Lilian Cheviot of a West Highland Terrier standing on its hind legs in a patriotic pose wearing a small hat and holding a Union Jack flag. Signed ('with love from Daphne') by Du Maurier to the inside, and with the additional words 'and the Clan Mackenzie pups!' in her hand beneath a printed Christmas and New Year greeting. The card also bears Du Maurier's printed address at Kilmarth, Par, Cornwall, and is annotated and dated 1977 in an unidentified hand to the verso. About EX Lilian Cheviot (c.1876-1936) English Painter, noted for her works of animals, particularly portraits of dogs.
