Karl Massanetz gründete 1912 in Steinschönau eine eigene kunstgewerbliche Veredelungswerkstätte für Glas, das schon bald von diversen Raffinerien vertrieben wurde. 1913 begann die Zusammenarbeit mit J. & L. Lobmeyr in Wien. Charakteristisch für Massanetz sind die so genannten "Federzeichnungs"-Dekore, die in dichter Zusammenstellung unterschiedlicher, feinliniger Ornamente und figuraler Motive die Gläser zieren und großen Anklang fanden.
