Die vorliegende Darstellung zeigt eine fröhliche Gesellschaft in einer Taverne. Im Zentrum steht ein tanzendes Paar, welches umringt von Gästen ausgelassen feiert. Schöpfer dieser heiteren Szene ist der niederländische Künstler Hendrik de Valck. Dieser wurde im Jahr 1674 getauft und verbrachte den Großteil seines Lebens und Schaffens in seiner Heimatstadt Leeuwarden. Kurze Zeit hielt er sich auch in Haarlem und Franeker auf, bevor er sich in seinen letzten Lebensjahren bis zu seinem Tod 1709 wieder in Leeuwarden niederließ.

In Hendrick de Valcks Werken ist deutlich der Einfluss von Jan Steen erkennbar, mit dessen expressiven Stil er wohl in Haarlem in Kontakt kam. So scheint man als Betrachter auch in vorliegender Darstellung das fröhliche Lachen und die Musik schier zu hören. Mit dem tanzenden Paar, den offenen Mündern und den Trinkenden im Hintergrund beschwört Valk gekonnt diese lebenslustige Welt herauf. Die Frau hat jedenfalls Besen und Lappen beiseitegelegt und stimmt nun in Gesang und Tanz mit ein.

1) Prices:
Estimated prices represent the lowest and highest bid expectations of our experts.

2) Written bids:
You can place written bids. Enter the catalogue number and your maxi- mum bid for the work of art you wish to buy. We will bid up to this amount at the auction for you. You will receive the requested item at the lowest price.

3) Telephone bids:
You can also place telephone bids. Enter the catalogue number and the telephone number on which we can reach you during the auction. We will call you! You can bid on the telephone. We accept your telephone bid only on the understanding that you agree to bid at the lower estimated price at least. If we cannot reach you by telephone we assume that you agree to buy the object at the lower estimated price.

4) Bids through a broker:
If you tick the box “Through a Broker” on the order bid, we will pass on your bids to a broker. If two bidders make the same bid, the bid by the broker takes precedence. A broker fee of 1.2 % of the highest bid is due in addition to the purchase price.

5) Invoice:
Your invoice will be issued based on the personal data you have provided. Also, if you have a VAT-ID number, please tell us before the auction.

6) Purchase price:
The purchase price is composed of the highest bid and the buyer’s commission of 26% (margin taxation). Under normal taxation (marked in the catalogue with s the buyer’s commission is 22% of the highest bid. Additionally, pictures are subject to 10% and antiquities to 20% value- added tax. For the amount of the bid exceeding € 300.000 the buyer’s com- mission is reduced to 17% (margin taxation) or 14% (normal taxation). For works of art of living artists or artists deceased 70 years or less, we will additionally collect resale right royalty (see item 8).

7) Terms of payment:
Items purchased in an auction are payable within 8 days – either in cash during our opening hours (Mo–Thu 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Fri 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.) or by transfer.

Cheques will be accepted only if backed by a bank guarantee. If no bank guarantee is submitted, your purchase will be released only after a period of 8 weeks.

All privities of contract between the bidders and the auction house underlie the rules of procedure of Auktionshaus im Kinsky GmbH. In making a bid the bidder confirms knowing and accepting the rules of procedure. The rules of procedure can be viewed on our homepage www.imkinsky.com. By request we will also send the rules of procedure to you.
Place of fulfilment and court of jurisdiction is Vienna. Austrian law applies.

8) Droit de suite:
Objects marked with an asterisk* in the catalogue are subject to droit de suite in addition to the purchase price. Droit de suite is calculated as a percentage of the highest bid as follows: 4 % of the first € 50,000, 3 % of the next € 150,000, 1 % of the next € 150,000, 0.5 % of the next € 150,000 and 0.25 % of the remaining amount (i.e. over € 500,000), but not exceeding a total sum of € 12,500. Droit de suite does not apply to highest bids below € 2,500.
