Winston Churchill: a good toby jug designed by Clarice Cliff for Wilkinson depicting Churchill as First Sea Lord holding a battle ship, the integral base inscribed Going into Action and May God Defend the Right', the underside with facsimile signature of Clarice Cliff, black printed mark and numbered 149, 305mm high * Churchill was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1911 to 1915. It is widely held that Sir Francis Carruthers Gould modelled this toby jug for production with others depicting the Allied commanders (see lot 37) but following Churchills resignation the design was not implemented rather it was subsequently remodelled by Clarice Cliff and produced in 1941. Collection and Shipping: 

Purchases may be collected by prior appointment from London.  The Auctioneer may pack and send small consignments by Royal Mail Special Delivery,  Whilst every effort will be made to ensure litems are properly packed no responsibility can be accepted by the Auctioneer or his agents for any loss or damage sustained in transit by Royal Mail with whom insurance cover will be arranged.

As a guide, packages weighing no more than two kilos will cost between £20 and £30 inland or £40 to £60 for the rest of the world. For larger and or bulky purchases please contact the auctioneer, preferably prior to the auction, for guidance on the costs of shipment.
