1868 General Election in Bolton: a pottery jug printed in black with named portraits of John Hick and Lieut-Col Gray, 101mm, cracked * William Gray, a local cotton mill owner, held Bolton for the Conservatives between 1857 and 1874 (when defeated by J.K. Cross, see lot 53). John Hick, an engineer after whom the class of railway locomotive is named, was the other Bolton MP from 1868 to 1880
