A tapering pottery jug printed with a statue portrait inscribed ‘The Workers Friend’, 135mm and a pottery jug depicting Sir Beville Stanier, the reverse inscribed with the result for the election of May 1908, together with an election poster and the service sheet for his death (4) * A prominent Lancashire solicitor Robert Ashcroft stood as Conservative member for Oldham from 1895 until his death in 1899 His conciliation work made him popular with the local cotton workers Sir Beville Stanier won the Newport, Shropshire by-election of 1908 for the Conservatives Francis Neilson was again unsuccessful at Newport in 1908 but became Liberal MP for Hyde in Cheshire in 1910

Purchases may be collected by prior appointment from London.  The Auctioneer may pack and send small consignments by Royal Mail Special Delivery,  Whilst every effort will be made to ensure litems are properly packed no responsibility can be accepted by the Auctioneer or his agents for any loss or damage sustained in transit by Royal Mail with whom insurance cover will be arranged.
