The work can be compared closely on stylistic and compositional grounds to treatments of the subject by Dutch schools and notably the circle of Sir Peter Lely (1618–1680). Comparison between the present work reveals a comparable treatment of light and a similar characterisation of the figure, notably in the definition of the face. Lely’s later period c.1660/70s from the images supplied a plausible attribution is the Studio/Circle of Sir Peter Lely (1618-1680) is plausible.
