Arne Bang studio pottery two vertical rib pots oatmeal glaze with painted mark numbered 128 and brown with incised mark both. Arne Bang 1901-1983 Born in Demark he trained as a sculptor at the Academy of Arts. After graduating he worked for Holmegaard producing distinctive stoneware. In his own studio he worked with Karl Halier, items created often had organic forms and typical colours of blue green and grey, understated works with crystalline glazes, his wish was to produce pottery that was beautiful but affordable and during the 1930`s thousands of hand crafted items were produced. Today Arne Bang ceramics are collected not only in his native Denmark but throughout mainland Europe, America and parts of Asia, his work appears in a number of museum collections. From a collection of Arne Bang ceramics that was assembled by the vendor over a period of more than ten years while researching a book on the work of Denmark`s most famous potter. 2½in. (5cm)
