The Aston Martin DB2 started the area of car manufacturing under the leadership of David Braun. The body of the DB2 was built at Mulliner which served as a model for the following series up to the DB6. With the DB2/4, a hatch back coupé was created, offering seating for 4 people. From October 1953 to October 1955 around 400 coupés and 165 cabriolets were produced. The handcrafted aluminium body is a true automotive work of art. After 45 years in original ownership and an exciting history at Bonham’s in London, this virtually untouched DB2/4 came into the possession off the current owner in the summer of 2016, where it was restored over 4 years at a cost over CHF 200.000. This Aston Martin DB2/4 has already proven itself at 2 historic rallies in Switzerland taking a 3rd and a 7th place. It also received 3rd place at the Concours Elegance in Zürich due to its fantastic respectfully done restoration. A Bonham’s report dated May 9th 2015, a heritage trust certificate and the FIVA ID card complete the extensive documentation. Technical condition: The engine, sporty in every respect and acoustically stunning, displays amazing propulsion for an almost 70 year old automobile, the gearbox is crisp and precise to shift and the non-servo-assisted brakes give every millimeter of pressure on the pedal a confident braking feel. The steering is firm and lets the driver feel the road. The DB2/4 underwent significant restoration efforts after a period of inactivity. With new parts supplied by Aston Service Dorset LTD its engine received a complete overhaul, the gearbox was meticulously revised and all mechanical and electrical components have been reworked. The car's underbody is notably clean and intact, treated with a fresh wax coating for long-term preservation. Visual condition: A beautiful restoration to the highest standards using correct and original parts. The aluminium body has been repainted maintaining the original Sea Green color and is in excellent condition with a nice shine. The chrome parts have been completely refurbished and rechromed only leaving the original door handles untouched. An original stock of tan Connolly leather was acquired to refinish the seats, covers and door panels and they are currently in like new condition. The wooden panel on the dashboard and the original wooden steering wheel were manually restored by a specialist in Brambilla, Italy. The original wire wheels were replaced with high-quality chrome spoked wheels, now sporting the Michelin Pilote X Racing tires for enhanced performance and aesthetic appeal. This 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 is a rare classic British sports car with amazing running characteristics, breath taking acoustics, beautifully restored visual condition and a great history with complete documentation. An irreplaceable addition to any collection as well as the perfect car to use at public events or historic rallies such as the Mille Miglia. Location: Switzerland. Video link: youtu.be/CmMiUmQGqS8
