MINIATURES - John Barry (fl. 1784 - 1827) - an oval portrait miniature of an officer, half-length, turned to sinister, wearing a grey wig, his red tunic with green facings and gilt epaulettes, ivory, 2.75in x 2.25in, in a contemporary shagreen travelling case, containing an old ink inscription 'Miniature of Captain N. ……, in the 11th Regt. of Foot, painted by Barry the celebrated French miniature painter in or about the year 1793 - 50gns he received for painting it.'
