John Hodges, London; a George III japanned longcase clock, the eight day two-train movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on a bell, the arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, Roman numerals and Arabic five minute divisions with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, 'strike/silent' ring within the arch, the case gilt with Chinoiserie panels reserved on a black ground, the hood with two doric pillars with brass capitals supporting an open fret frieze within a domed entablature, surmounted with a stepped pediment, height 247cm (97in) (some restoration to the case).
