Pair: Private L. L. Ackermann, 7th Battalion, East Kent Regiment, who was killed in action on 1 July 1916 british War and Victory Medals (G-5053 Pte., E. Kent R.) nearly very fine (2) £120-150 Leon Lorden Ackerman was born and lived at Lynsted, Kent and enlisted at Sittingbourne, Kent. He was killed in action in France and Flanders on 1 July 1916 whilst serving with the 7th Battalion, East Kent Regiment. the following is extracted from a phoocopied newspaper cutting included with the lot: ‘... Mr Leon Ackermann, who was 29 years of age, enlisted in the Buffs at the outbreak of the war and at the time of his death was a Lance Corporal. He was killed on July 1st in the great advance. He was formerly an architect and draughtsman in the office of Messsrs Drake and Boucher, of Rochester, but for four years before the war he suffered bad health and relinquished that position. He had just recovered when the war broke out. He was very popular in his village and much sympathy is felt with the bereaved family.’ Sold with copy of m.i.c. which confirms that he was additionally entitled to a 1914-15 Star. £120-£150
