Description
A large silver gilt and carved ivory covered cup by Joseph Fischer 1918, oval campana shape the barrel applied with a frieze carved in relief in great detail with an elaborate scene of nymphs on the edge of a pool of oxidised silver in which swim further nymphs modelled in full relief, surrounded by water lilies, against a thick woodland background, the stem applied with winged putti carrying festoons, the domed cover with a finial in the form of an ivory cupid seated pensively, the silver-gilt cast and chased with scrolling foliage, flowers, masks, arches and swags of flowers, signed and dated on the ivory, approximate weight 4.5kg, 54.5cm high
