AFTER SIR EDWIN LANDSEER, R.A. (1802-1873)The Stag at Bay, engraved by Thomas Landseer with inscription on title plate ‘To the most noble the Marquis of Breadalbane this engraving from the original picture in his Lordship’s Collection....’ published by Paul Jerrard & Sons, Fine Art Gallery70 Fleet Street (n.d. c.1855), with tear in image top leaf, Pl. 20 x 36 1/2in, and some water staining through title area into image Pl. 20 x 36 1/2in (50.9 x 92.8cm) This is a re-issue from the original plate by Jerrard of a print originally published by Henry Graves, with Graves publication line erased. The original oil painting of the subject was exhibited at The Art Treasures Exhibition of 1857.
