Pranab Narayan Das (B.1976) Untitled (Dashavatar, Oriya Pattachitra) natural pigments on Tussar silk 40 x 118.5cm (15 3/4 x 46 5/8in). Footnotes: Provenance Anrad Gallery, London Pranab Narayan Das (b.1976) is a renowned Pattachitra artist from Odisha, India. He began learning the art form at the age of ten and specialises in painting on tussar silk. Rooted in Odisha's cultural heritage, Pattachitra painting is closely associated with religious sites like Konark and Puri, drawing inspiration from the region's ancient murals. These intricate artworks are crafted on layers of prepared cloth, known as 'patta,' and often depict religious themes. Traditionally, they served as objects of worship on days when temple idols were unavailable due to ritual bathing. Pattachitra paintings are made with delicate brushes and pigments sourced from nature, such as conch shell powder and lamp soot. Once finished, the artworks are sealed with a blend of lac and resin to ensure their durability. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
