1975 BMW 898cc R90/6 Frame no. 4060235 Engine no. 4060235 Please kindly note that this motorbike will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Dortmund: please contact eva.lengler@bonhams.com for booking. Replacements for the '/5' range, the BMW '/6' series arrived in October 1973. The newcomers were more sporting in style than the outgoing '/5' models, boasting new side-panels and silencers and totally restyled controls and instruments. Like their predecessors, the three '/6' flat twins shared an identical stroke; the 500cc model though, had been dropped in favour of the new 600cc R60/6, while at the top of the range was a new 900cc superbike: the R90S. Apart from the updated styling, the presence of a disc front brake readily distinguished the '/6' bikes, which also benefited from the new five-speed gearbox. Currently displaying a total of a little under 36,000 kilometres on the odometer, this R90/6 comes with a folder of information to include a manufacturer's brochure; original instruction book; assorted German paperwork; and a German Fahrzeugbrief (registration document). The engine turns over. Offered with key Footnotes: Please kindly note that VAT at the prevailing german rate (currently 19%) will be added to the buyer's premium which will be invoiced on a VAT exclusive basis.
