1992 BMW 980cc R100R Frame no. 0247323 R100R Engine no. 35/92/0003 102VD
1992 BMW 980cc R100R Frame no. 0247323 R100R Engine no. 35/92/0003 102VD Just a few years after introducing the R90/6 and R90S, BMW upped the capacity of its range-topping flat-twins to 980cc for the 1977 season in the form of the R100/7 series. This – nominally – 1,000cc engine would remain BMW's largest for many years and was used across a range of R100 touring and enduro/adventure models. In 1991 the range was extended with the introduction of the R100R (the 'R' standing for Roadster). Based on the R100GS enduro, the R100R was what would nowadays be termed a 'naked': basically what mainstream motorcycles looked like before the boom in fully-faired 'race replicas'. An outstanding success for the Bavarian firm, its new 'retro' street model featured 18' wire-spoked wheels, old-style valve covers, a single-sided exhaust system, and a coachlined fuel tank, while the front and rear suspension now came from Showa in Japan. The R100 range ceased production in October 1994, to be replaced with the R1100 series. This BMW R100R currently displays a total of 3,476 kilometres on the odometer. The machine is offered with sundry invoices; other German paperwork; and German Fahrzeugschein and Fahrzeugbrief (registration documents). The engine turns over. Offered with key Footnotes: Please kindly note that VAT at the prevailing german rate (currently 19%) will be added to the buyer's premium which will be invoiced on a VAT exclusive basis. If you are planning to export, please make the department aware. Lot to be sold without reserve.
