Bottled by Ephemerus Concepts in collaboration with East Asia Whisky Company, and Bill Amberg Studio. Sherry cask #11350. Engraved labelling. Filled to 70cl. Single malt, 56 abv Original leather-bound box with customised mechanics specially designed and manufactured in collaboration with Bill Amberg Studio. Two handmade, engraved lead-free crystal decanters made by Glencairn Crystal Studio. Footnotes: A very special limited-edition pair of 33-Year-Old Highland Single Malts distilled at The Macallan Distillery pay homage to a spirit with a history built on sherry casks. This duo is the unique outcome of a single oloroso sherry cask, half of which underwent a separate finish in curated Hokkaido Mizunara, while the other half remained in the original cask for a full 33 year of aging. This is the first time in whisky history that two incarnations of a single cask allow connoisseurs to enjoy the original liquid side-by-side next to its Mizunara-aged 'twin'. This project marks the inauguration of a unique 'study in oak'. The two whiskies are presented in beautiful lead-free crystal decanters of the highest quality handcrafted by Glencairn Crystal. The lettering on the front of each bottle is hand engraved in gold while the beautifully engraved designs build the bridge between the Scottish origins and the Asian influence on this extraordinary liquid. The original Sherry Cask bottling bears an ornate Pictish crescent with an arrow engraving symbolising strength and valour that may have been used as a grain harvest calendar. The Mizunara Cask bottling bears a matching engraving of an ancient Japanese fan with cherry blossoms to symbolise transformation, just as the original sherry cask whisky is transformed in the Mizunara Oak. Both the crescent and the fan represent the noble warrior heritage of these two great cultures. In collaboration with Bill Amberg Studio, this highly elegant wooden cabinet is covered in a vegetable tanned, debossed leather honouring the history of the Scottish whisky and the cultural significance of Japan's native oak. The interior has been lined in cream calf-skin. The box mechanism features an articulated plinth expertly engineered specially for this project. It rises elegantly as the box opens, giving a sophisticated visual between the closed and opened state. Storage, liquid reracking, and bottling was carried out by an experienced team of experts at Craigton Packaging.
