A Jeff Richards Group of Personal Film and Television Scripts The following film scripts all have 'Jeff Richards' ownership signature to covers: The Big Leaguer (MGM, 1953), 95 pp, together with a First Preview report, 12 pp; Code Two (1953), 93 pp; The Crest of the Wave (1954), First Shooting Script, 166 pp, many pages folded; The Marauders (1955), 76 pp, penciled annotations, cover loose; The Opposite Sex (1956), 110 pp; Don't Go Near the Water (MGM, 1957), 125 pp; Born Reckless (Warner Bros., 1958), Final Screenplay, 98 pp; Island of Lost Women (Warner Bros., 1959), Revised Final Script, 102 pp; and two scripts for the television show, The Web, from the episode titled, 'The Quill and the Gun,' dated Aug. 9, 1957. Together with a group of 5 miscellaneous treatments and scripts. Professional baseball player Jeff Richards got his big acting break when he appeared with Paul Douglas in Angels in the Outfield (1951) and with Edward G. Robinson and Vera-Ellen in The Big Leaguer (1953), a film about a Florida baseball training camp. His acting career began in 1948 after he tore a ligament which temporarily stopped his baseball career, and up until 1951, he had appeared in primarily uncredited roles. When forced to make the choice between continuing to play baseball and take a crack at show business, Richards chose the latter. Though he never became a top tier star, Richards made a decent acting career for himself in such films as The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), The Opposite Sex (1956), and many others. Television beckoned in the 1950s and '60s, where Richards appeared in such series as Rawhide and Laramie and in 28 episodes as the lead actor in Jefferson Drum (1958). Scripts, each: 8.5 x 11 in. Lot to be sold without reserve. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
