Description
A To Catch a Thief Group of Set Stills Paramount Pictures, 1955. Approximately 140 silver gelatin photographs, 8 x 10 in., some with 3-hole punches to border, some date stamped (July-Sept. 1954), and some with 'Script' stamped to verso. Together with 29 borderless photos featuring props, 7 x 9.5 in.; a group of approximately 65 smaller photos, 3 x 5 to 4 x 5 in.; a group of 13 color transparencies, 2.25 x 2.25 in.; 4 black-and-white negatives, 2.25 x 2.25 in.; 3 color transparencies, 4 x 5 in.; and 7 black-and-white negatives, 4 x 5 in. Photos feature many of the sets used in the film including the villa rooftop, Francie's car (both interior and exterior), Robie's living room, the wine cellar, Mrs. Stevens' bedroom, the Stevens' sitting room, the motor launch, and more, 2 featuring Cary Grant. Please note that there may be some duplication of photographs. Alfred Hitchcock's thriller on the dazzling Riviera is made more brilliant by the presence of its inimitable stars, Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. Suspenseful, romantic, and with stunning cinematography, To Catch a Thief created literal fireworks on film when teaming up Grant with Kelly. Grant plays John Robie, a former jewel thief who has settled into an honest and calm life on the Riviera, only to be forced out of retirement by a copycat jewel thief whose actions threaten Robie's peaceful existence. Enter Grace Kelly as rich girl Francie Stevens, who is out to bewitch John Robie into admitting his guilt.
