An Eliot Ness Door from The Untouchables Television Series A painted faux glass brown painted pine faux door. ABC (1959-1963). After being in films for decades, Robert Stack became a household name when he appeared as the real-life 1920s Mafia-busting FBI agent, Eliot Ness, in the successful television series, The Untouchables. Set in the years of Prohibition and loosely based on Ness' true-life exploits, the nickname, 'Untouchables,' was based on Ness and his fellow FBI agents' unwillingness to take bribes. In a coup for the series, narration was provided by real-life newspaper legend, Walter Winchell. This door to Ness' office was a staple of the TV series and appeared in many episodes. The violent-yet-riveting program earned Stack an Emmy Award and was so beloved by audiences that it later inspired a film starring Kevin Costner as Ness (but die-hard fans prefer Robert Stack's interpretation of the role). Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories excluding Arms & Armour, Coins and Medals, Motor Cars, Motorcycles, Wine & Whisky
28% on the first $50,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $50,000 up to and including $1,000,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $1,000,000 up to and including $6,000,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of $6,000,000.
A 3rd-party bidding platform fee (the "3rd-party bidding platform fee") equal to 4% of THE BID PRICE shall be payable by buyers whose successful bid is submitted via 3rd-party bidding platforms, including Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
