PENNSYLVANIA CURRENCY PRINTED BY BENJAMIN FRANKLIN. FRANKLIN, BENJAMIN. 1706-1790. Two Pennsylvania twenty shilling notes printed by Benjamin Franklon and D. Hall, each 90 x 70 mm, printed May 20, 1758, in the Province of Pennsylvania, verso engraved 'To Counterfeit is Death,' corners worn, signatures faded, worn, floated and framed with a portrait of Franklin to 495 x 635 mm. RARE 20-SHILLING NOTES PRINTED BY FRANKLIN. No other American did more in the 18th-century, from the inception of printed currency in the colonies, to advance the use of printed money. Franklin also invented the first anti-counterfeit measures in 1739 by embedding a sage leaf in the printing process, which could not be replicated. As here, he marked his bills in the printing process, 'To Counterfeit is Death.' Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories excluding Arms & Armour, Coins and Medals, Motor Cars, Motorcycles, Wine & Whisky
28% on the first $50,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $50,000 up to and including $1,000,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $1,000,000 up to and including $6,000,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of $6,000,000.
A 3rd-party bidding platform fee (the "3rd-party bidding platform fee") equal to 4% of THE BID PRICE shall be payable by buyers whose successful bid is submitted via 3rd-party bidding platforms, including Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
