Jean Paul Gaultier Femme: a Black Dress Jacket 1990s Wool blend with open collar, double breasted hammered silver metal anchor buttons, large patch pockets Labelled size IT 44 (UK 12) Footnotes: This dress inspired much of the later Spring 2002 Couture Collection from Jean Paul Gaultier, and dates from the 1990s. Exemplifying the designer's signature aesthetic, this dress coat features bold corsetry and gender-fluid design elements. The structured silhouette and provocative use of lingerie-inspired details, hallmark traits of Gaultier's work during this era, directly inspired him to revisit these themes in the Spring 2002 Couture Collection. Gaultier's fascination with blending streetwear, cultural motifs, and avant-garde fashion in the 1990s informed the sophisticated reimagining in his later couture work. CONDITION REPORT Condition Grade B+ Appears in good pre-loved vintage condition, with gentle signs of use. No visible marks on exterior or interior, black plating on front buttons faded in areas. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
