Eilis O'Connell R.H.A. (Irish, born 1953) Dish with holes, 1994 Bronze 75.5 cm. (29 3/4 in.) long Conceived in 1994, in an edition of 2 Footnotes: Provenance Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin, where acquired by the present owner. Private Collection, Ireland Eilis O'Connell studied sculpture at the Crawford School of Art, Cork and the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston. She has previously exhibited her work at the Venice, Paris and Sao Paulo Biennales and at the Guggenheim Museum in Venice. Her work is featured in many high-profile locations internationally including Canary Wharf and the London Docklands, Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. Other privately commissioned sculptures can be found in Lismore Castle, Waterford, the Cass Sculpture Foundation, Chatsworth and in private gardens in France and Spain. O'Connell is a founding director of the National Sculpture Factory Cork, a former member of the Arts Council of Ireland and a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy and Aosdána. In her work she employs a wide variety of materials and techniques including bronze, steel, stone and resin resulting in organic geometric forms.
