Description
George Chinnery (London 1774-1852 Macau) Portrait of Harry Wright oil on canvas 32.7 x 25.1cm (12 7/8 x 9 7/8in). Footnotes: Harry Wright was the son of Henry Wright, a partner of Jardine Matheson & Co. Chinnery has painted a full-length portrait of Harry, seated on a bank in a wooded landscape, wearing a white shirt and holding a blue cap over his knee. Henry Wright spent several years as a purser in the East India Company. A contemporary of Chinnery's in India, he became good friends with Chinnery and they left India together in 1825. Chinnery to Macau, and Wright to join William Jardine in Canton. This is not the only portrait of Harry Wright that Chinnery produced. He painted Harry once again when he became Master of the Clipper Ship Red Rover. However, Harry did not spend long on the ship, returning to England at a relatively young age to become a clergyman in Gloucestershire. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
