PHOTOGRAPHY - AFRICA AND ROYALTY The Progress of His Royal Highness Prince Alfred Ernest Albert through the Cape Colony, British Kaffraria, the Orange Free State, and Port Natal, in the Year 1860, FIRST EDITION, additional title with albumen print of the Prince 'at the Table Bay Breakwater', 16 albumen print plates (6 from life, 10 reproductions of paintings Baines and Bowler, woodcut vignettes, by Kirkman, Green and York), all pages within decorative borders, spotting and toning, contemporary full decorative morocco gilt with Royal arms on sides, g.e. [Gernsheim 150], 4to, Cape Town, Saul Solomon & Co., 1861 Footnotes: Attractively bound copy of a photographically illustrated commemoration of the Prince's Royal tour to South Africa in 1860. Alfred was the second son of Queen Victoria. The photographs, some of the earliest taken in Africa, include a portrait of Moshoeshoe I, the first King of Lesotho. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
