Translated out of Frenche into our Materall Englysche Tonge by Johan Bouchier Knyghte Lorde Berners], 2 parts in 1 vol., black letter, double column, title to second part printed within woodcut border and with woodcut Tudor royal arms on verso, Pynson coat of arms on verso of final leaf of second part, lacking general title, preface and first leaves of the table to the first part (A1 to B1) and last 4 leaves of first part (ooo2-ooo6, one supplied from another edition), 5 leaves with marginal tears affecting text, contemporary ink 4-verse poem on B4v, occasional marginal damp-staining, eighteenth-century calf retaining original sides, cracked along spine, covers detached [ESTC S121316, S121319], folio (328 x 210mm.), [Richard Pynson, 1523]-1525 Footnotes: The rare first English edition of Froissart's Chronicle. The arms printed on the verso of the last leaf are those of Richard Pynson (1449-1529), one of the first and finest printers of English books. Born in Normandy and later a student at the University of Paris, Pynson eventually moved to London and was naturalised in 1493. In 1506 he was appointed King's Printer to Henry VII, and subsequently to Henry VIII. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
