A rare and large negus strainer with very wide reach Together with a mahogany dish slope, small ruler and ebony screw press. the strainer 37.7cm long (4) Footnotes: Negus was a drink made from wine, spices, lemon and hot water that needed to be strained before drinking. Colonel Francis Negus who was a soldier is credited with importing the drink into Britain died in 1732, but the beverage continued to be drunk well into the 19th century.
