A Cased Pair Of 32-Bore Percussion Duelling Pistols Late 18th Century, Converted From Flintlock And Refurbished By Barker, Warrington, Mid-19th Century With rebrowned twist slightly swamped octagonal sighted barrels (some surface rust along the bottom flats) each engraved 'WARRINGTON' along the top flat, case-hardened breeches each engraved with foliate scrollwork on the top flat and on the bolster, border engraved tangs each with back-sight and decorated with a martial trophy and foliage, border engraved case-hardened flat bevelled detented locks and dolphin hammers decorated with scrolling foliage, the former each with a line of beadwork at the stepped tail, highly figured full stocks (fore-ends each with split in the ramrod-channel, one repaired) with rounded flat-sided butts, reblued steel trigger-guards and turned ramrod-pipes, the former each with pineapple finial and engraved with a pheasant in a landscape on the bow, adjustable set triggers, and steel-capped ramrods each with worm: in later lined and fitted mahogany case, the exterior of the lid with flush-fitting brass carrying handle, indistinct London proof marks 17.5 cm. barrels Footnotes: Barker of Warrington appears to be unrecorded This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
