A 20-Bore Flintlock Silver-Mounted Pistol By Wilson, Birmingham Silver Hallmarks For 1777, Maker's Mark Of Charles Freeth With slightly swamped two-stage barrel, octagonal breech with re-engraved foliate scroll and stamped with Irish registration number 'EC-2925' for County Cork, East Riding, border engraved tang decorated with foliage, refurbished flat bevelled lock with re-engraved borders and foliate scroll signed in capitals, border engraved cock, safety-catch and steel en suite, figured full stock inlaid with silver wire scrollwork and a scallop shell around the tang, rounded butt with swelling pommel, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced Classical trophy of arms side-plate involving a dragon and centred on a female bust, vacant escutcheon en suite, butt-cap decorated with rocailles and foliage, trigger-guard with finial formed as a Classical female bust probably representing Britannia, and on the bow with an urn of flowers, an eagle and a trumpet, turned ramrod-pipes, and silver-tipped ramrod with iron worm, private Birmingham proof marks, barrelsmith's mark 'I.W', crowned 23.2 cm. barrel Footnotes: A James Wilson is recorded in Dublin between 1742 and 1798 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing

Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
