A Fine Pair Of 16-Bore Flintlock Travelling Or Overcoat Pistols By H.W. Mortimer & Co., London, Gun Makers To His Majesty, Early 19th Century With slightly swamped rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels each signed in full in capitals along the top flat and engraved with a line of foliage at the breech, border engraved tangs each with back-sight and decorated with a Britannia shield and foliage, signed border engraved case-hardened flat locks each with 'French' cock and safety-catch also locking the steel, figured full stocks with chequered rounded butts, the pommels each cut with radiating lines, blued steel trigger-guards and turned ramrod-pipes, the former each with pineapple finial and engraved with a Britannia shield against foliage on the bow, original horn-tipped ramrods, one with iron worm, and retaining some original finish, London proof marks (2) 12.8 cm. barrels Footnotes: Harvey Walklate 2 Mortimer was apprenticed to his father in 1791. He was in partnership with his father and uncle as H.W. Mortimer, Son & T. Mortimer between 1800 and 1806, with his father as H.W. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
