A Brass-Barrelled Flintlock Blunderbuss With Spring Bayonet By J. Probin Of Birmingham, Late 18th Century With three-stage barrel turned and belled at the muzzle and fitted with a folding bayonet above, octagonal breech engraved with florets behind the turned girdle and with a line of beadwork at the rear, border engraved tang decorated with a shell and incorporating the bayonet-catch, flat bevelled lock and cock, the former signed in script and with large roller, the latter with safety-catch behind, figured full stock with pineapple chequered grip and incised 'G. HURT' (probably the owner's name) beneath the side-plate, border engraved brass mounts comprising side-plate decorated with a garland, butt-plate decorated with foliage on the border engraved heel, trigger-guard with large pineapple finial and decorated with a flower-head on the bow, turned ramrod-pipes, and original brass-tipped wooden ramrod with steel worm (steel parts with light rust patination) 34.8 cm. barrel Footnotes: John Probin is recorded at 17 St. John Street, Birmingham between 1769 and 1800, the year of his death. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
