Quartz Crystal on Illuminated Amethyst Base by Hovave Rappaport Created by a well-known local California artist, Hovave Rappaport, this illuminated object features a highly transparent quartz crystal, with naturally etched sides and polished point, recessed into a hole drilled into the side of a Bolivian amethyst crystal point, fitted with a light fixture. Measuring 8 1/2 x 7 x 4 in Footnotes: Hovave Rappaport Born in 1954 in Kibbutz Bet-Alpha, Israel, Hovave Rappaport graduated from Gilboa School with a major in Art. He moved to Los Angeles in 1980 and began to sculpt with natural stone materials such as marble, granite and onyx. Later, in 1986, he developed a new form of sculpture combining these stones and lighting. His work reveals the inner beauty of the natural stone in a very original way. The basis of much of his work is done by fabricating and polishing slabs from the stones and forming various geometric shapes such as obelisks, cubes and hexagons with the materials. Hovave believes his artwork lends beauty, visual pleasure and a soothing atmosphere to their surroundings. As a recognized artist in this field, his work is represented by some of the finest galleries in the United States and Japan. Lot to be sold without reserve.
