Fossil Plate with Sting Ray and Two Fish Cyclobatis major; Eurypholis boissieri and Armigatus brevissimus Upper Cretaceous, 100 million years Haquil, Byblos, Lebanon The Cyclobatis is called 'Sunfish' because of its quasi-circular shape due to the radial arrangement of the rays of the pectoral fins. These pectoral fins join at the front in perfect circle, and seen dorsally, completely cover the pelvic fins. It has numerous teeth, which are very small with a smooth crown and with a clean slicing carina. The Cyclobatis is surrounded by Eurypholis boissieri and Armigatus brevissimus. The former is an extinct formidable predator while the latter is a genus close to present day sardines and herrings. Measuring 19 x 18 x 1 in Lot to be sold without reserve.
